Hi I'm Kate, mum of three, owner and designer of Pop's Creative Play.

Having fallen in love with the Instagram play world in 2021 and finding some fabulous small businesses, it quickly became my dream to start a business using my artistic and design background to help others create amazing play setups.

The true inspiration behind Pop's Creative Play though are my children. Through creating activities for them I have seen a love of learning grow and they are now thriving in school.

My youngest (3 year old) loves to paint all the wooden items and being able to treasure her work after and use it in play is amazing. Not to mention painting helps strengthen key hand muscles that she will need when she goes to school and starts writing.

Every product has been designed with them in mind and now for your little ones to enjoy too!. Let their imaginations run wild and help them learn through play!

Having these worksheets on hand when Jessie wants to do "homework" like her brother is super handy.

I always laminate them so they can be used over and over but you don't have to.

Writing numbers and letters on conkers is one of my favourite ways to incorporate learning into sensory play.

We scooped up the letters, identified and practised the sounds, matched them to the tiles and counted how many of each sound there were!

It was our harvest festival last week so we've had this out to explore.

Jessie went straight to the @twinklresources scarecrow sheet and traced the lines so well.

As you can see it ended with lots of characters "sleeping" in the tree, colour matching and lots of "harvesting".
She did argue with me that the resin apples were pumpkins 🤣

Autumn letters 🍂

Jessie loves nothing more than scooping and making "food" so I try to have something like this out all the time. She goes to it every morning and even her brother gets involved, proving sensory play is still beneficial for nearly 7 years old!

Popping letter sounds in gave her the chance to practise what she had learnt at school. She found the letters, made the sound, traced the letter and even sieved the sand herself.

Out Autumn stamps are out!

Jess buried conkers into the dough for foxes dens, enjoyed cutting the different leaves and our flashcards from @growing_littlebrains were perfect for matching them to.

We plan to take them out on our next walk to collect leaves and identify different trees 🌳 😉

I love dough for a calming activity after school and it's readily accessible in our house for Jess to grab when she wants...which is alot!

Have you ever created sound baskets? I've been meaning to for a long time and last night we finally got round to it.

Jessie and I spent some time walking around the house and finding things that began with an sssss sound. It was really fun and amazed how many things we found.

That's one full week of Jessie in school, and boy has it gone quick!

Her number recognition up to 10 has been good for a while now, so I'm now looking at introducing number bonds to her.

A tens frame is a great visual to help with this as the child can clearly see how many spaces are left empty to make it up to ten

I'll, of course, be using our part whole model too.

Sand, one of the best sensory bases out there! In my opinion anyway.

We love the feel of it in our house, slipping through our hands, filling up every container with it, brushing it with paintbrushes and hiding things in it.

So this was the perfect quick setup for after Jessie's first full day at school.

Casey loves sharks so to spread the love to Jessie i set this up for them today.

We did this several times until I ran out of things for them to find. 🤣

Here's what to do! Write some objects on some paper, and hide them in some sand. Get them to take turns picking them out and reading them, then race around the house to find them! 👍

I changed the difficulty up the second time, and instead of items like sock or forks, i told them "something soft, something red."
They also had to fit the objects inside the upturned stepping stone, and they couldn't bring back the same item as each other!

Some really interesting and clever things were bought back by all particularly impressed with Jessie's hanger for "something that holds something" 😀

We went treasure hunting yesterday saving the mermaid treasure from our new pirate peg!

First Jessie found all the treasure hidden under the sand and sea and then we set about counting each one into our tens frame and writing the number on our map board.

We used our number coins to help Jessie recognise what each number looked like so she could practise.

This was a great activity for getting her school ready for September.

After she just had fun hiding the treasure, making sandcastles and playing with the naughty pirate!

I'm a little bit in love with our new flisat topper...am I allowed to say that?!

It's #insectweek, a week to show the importance of insects! The week consists of hundreds of events and activities across UK, allowing the public to discover insects and meet the entomologists that study them.

A froggy play from before our holiday using green gellibaff 🐸

This was super easy to set up and kept us engaged for ages hiding the frogs and finding them around the garden!

Jessie counted them back into the tray putting them in a line to help count.

If you're wondering if these numbers and stencil are okay after being in the gellibaff, well the answer is yes! A quick wash and dry after play and they're fine. 😊
(If you leave them in it overnight they may develop alight staining)
